Application Of Improved Box-type Settler In New Vanadium Extraction Process

Vanadium is a nonferrous metal. Vanadium pentoxide is widely used in metallurgy, chemical industry and other industries, mainly for smelting ferrovanadium. It is used as an alloy additive, accounting for more than 80% of the total consumption of vanadium pentoxide, followed by being used as a catalyst in organic chemical industry, accounting for about 10% of the total, and is used as inorganic chemicals, chemical reagents, enamel and magnetic materials, accounting for about 10% of the total.
 
Using the extraction tank to extract vanadium pentoxide from stone coal has a high recovery rate and low processing cost, which is beneficial to environmental protection.
 
 


The mixing clarifier used for extraction is hereinafter referred to as the extraction tank, and the clarifier used for stripping, washing of loaded organic phase and transformation of lean organic phase is hereinafter referred to as the stripping tank. The equipment fully meets the requirements of the new vanadium extraction process, and has the advantages of high efficiency, fast phase separation, simple operation, stable operation and strong adaptability.
 
The improved box-type mixer-settler has the following structural features:
1. The liquid flow in the mixing chamber (i.e., the mixed phase) enters the clarification chamber continuously and smoothly through the vertical and horizontal long holes respectively arranged on the two partitions, which is conducive to phase separation;
2. Each level of the clarification chamber is equipped with a heavy phase overflow weir, so that each level becomes a relatively independent hydraulic unit, which can maintain the height of the two-phase interface by itself without the need for instruments and valves for control.
3. Each level of the extraction tank is equipped with a vertically adjustable light phase reflux weir, and each level of the back-extraction tank is equipped with an adjustable heavy phase reflux port, which can independently and continuously adjust the contact ratio. In daily operation, the dispersion type can be controlled or converted by adjusting the contact ratio.
4. A four-blade flat paddle agitator with a wider blade than the usual one is used to achieve better mass transfer efficiency at a not too high speed and avoid the dispersed phase droplets being too fine, which is conducive to phase separation.
5. There is enough drop in the liquid level between the clarification chamber and the mixing chamber, the light phase overflows smoothly, and there is no back-mixing phenomenon
 
The concentration of vanadium is low, the pH value fluctuates greatly, and there is no means to control the potential value. These are all unfavorable conditions for the operation of the extraction equipment, so the process conditions must be strictly controlled.
